mango body butter

We have promised you since the beginning, that no recipe we share will be complicated. We tend to get a little impatient when crafting…perhaps it is because our children are typically running circles around us and we just want to get it over with or perhaps it is that we get bored really fast and get overwhelmed by too many steps and ingredients. Regardless, any fun items we make with essential oils have passed the patience test of the CCC girls and thus will be simple and fun to make! We also tend to mess things up so rest assured we have worked out the kinks and hopefully save you from any recipe mishaps. Yikes!!

Having said all that, let’s make some delicious, whippy mango body butter!!!

mango-5web

We were looking to make something nourishing for sensitive and delicate skin (such as our faces and all over body care for our children) and after scouring DOZENS of recipes and making test batches we came up with a lovely concoction. Here is why we chose the ingredients we used for this whipped delicious-ness.

Mango butter-contains vitamins A, C and E which work to combat free radicals. It has a faint clean smell to it, but is not overpowering.

Avocado oil– rich in vitamins A, D and E which help maintain healthy skin. In fact, I encourage you to go read this article and see just incredible it is for you! Click HERE!

Tapioca starch– the best use of this is basically to “tap it down” and absorb any greasiness of this mixture

Geranium oil– known to reduce inflammation and to cleanse, it is a wonderful choice for your face and body. Read more about it’s properties by reading this article HERE!

Frankincense and Sacred frankincense– both known for their toning and restorative properties. We will never be without both of these! Read more HERE.

Lavender– honestly at first we just put it in to combat the smell of the geranium (which I feel at times smells kind of like pickles) but it is a good choice since lavender is the universal soother for all types of skin issues. Once again, read more on one of our favorites sites HERE!

WHAT YOU NEED

16 oz of mango butter

3/4 cup of avocado oil

4 tsp tapioca starch

20 drops of Geranium oil (if it isn’t obvious, Young Living is our preferred brand)

25 drops of Lavender oil

15 drops of Sacred Frankincense oil

15 drops of Frankincense oil

Kitchen Aid mixer or something similar

WHAT TO DO

step 1.

in a double boiler over very low heat, melt the mango butter, stirring every now and then until it becomes clear. It will look like olive oil when it is completely melted.

step 2.

pour in the avocado oil and stir, allow this mixture to stay on low heat for 10 minutes.

step 3.

pour the mixture into the mixing bowl you will use with your kitchen aid and put the bowl into the refrigerator

step 4.

refrigerate the mixture until it starts to harden on the sides and has a slight film across the top

step 5.

remove bowl from fridge and place on the kitchen aid. Whip on medium speed until the mixture begins to look like whipped cream

step 6.

once it begins to thicken, add the tapioca starch one tablespoon at a time. Whip until incorporated.

step 7.

turn off the mixture and stir, incorporating any of the cream from the sides of the bowl. Add your essential oils and whip on medium speed 1-2 more minutes until fully incorporated

step 8.

spoon into glass jars or cosmetic containers, seal tight, label (we currently like the Avery labels #22847) and store in a cool dry place. This recipe will keep 4-6 months.

Simple, simple, simple, right?

This is truly the yummiest moisturizer ever. I use it morning and night on my face and it acts as a moisturizer and brightening cream all in one.

So give this a try, make up a batch, and let us know if you like it!!!
