get fresh for spring

We don’t consider ourselves SUPER crafty here at chocolate covered carrots so when we find fun things to make that aren’t incredibly involved we jump on it. Too many ingredients make us shut down. We are always on the hunt for fun new ideas and after stumbling on to several recipes on pinterest and Facebook we decided to finally cave and make these sweet little scent stones. The idea is not original to us AT ALL but is quite brilliant. These stones are made from only baking soda and water. How simple is that? You drop the essential oils of your choice on to the stones and then can place them in tiny spaces that your diffuser can’t get to (unless you can manage to shove a diffuser in your tennis shoes, gym bag, locker, drawers, closet, etc. I tried it and failed miserably). You can also toss them in the bath (along with a cup of epsom salts) for a wonderful detoxing and relaxing soak.

WHAT YOU NEED

3 cups of baking soda

just a little under 3/4 cup of water

silicone candy mold

baking sheet

WHAT TO DO

preheat oven to 400 degrees

measure out baking soda into a mixing bowl

pour in the water a little bit at a time and mix with your hands until the mixture starts to come together. You may not need all the water…you want this to be on the drier side but wet enough that you can pack it into the molds

pack the mixture firmly into each mold (very firm. this can take a little extra time but it will result in smooth, clean edges)

put the silicone mold sheet on a baking sheet and put in the oven for 30 minutes

remove from oven and completely cool before popping the stones out of the molds

YIELDS 24 stones from silicone sheet of one and three quarter inch diameter molds.

After they cool, place 6-10 drops of your favorite essential oil on a stone and place it in an area that needs freshening up!! A drawstring gauze bag makes it convenient for placing in a drawer, shoe, locker or gym bag. I also like to keep a glass jar of them by the bath to add oils too and throw in the water. However you use them they are AMAZING!! If you are a part of our Chocolate Covered Carrots downline for Young Living, we will be giving some of these away! Sign up for the Essential Rewards program, choose an April date, and then email us to let us know! We will send you two of these stones with drawstring bags and two samples of our favorite springtime fresh essential oils! Don’t know about Essential Rewards? YOU ARE MISSING OUT!! • Alexandria - I love, love, love this idea! I just recently made a frankincense and rose petal scrub and these would be the perfect addition to a relaxing bath.ReplyCancel
